La Jolla Art Association
President's Message
Open Letter to the Membership
September 2011

Dear Members,
Here we are in the last quarter of 2011. As I mentioned in the last President's Message, I am asking your your help to fill our gallery and make 2012 a prosperous and fruitful year for LJAA.

Our first quarter with a new and expanded board is past, and life is going forward. Quite a lot has been happening behind the scences and so I thought an update is in order.

1.The Board voted in September to continue our lease in the current location for at least one more year. We have the ability in our lease to remain here an additional three years. The treasury, at present, could not with stand a location change.

    2. The last 2 months, the gallery has been running slightly in the red, but some of those expenses are seasonal. Gallery sales are slightly increased.

    3. We will be having new opportunities to participate in all member shows coming soon for the holiday season. Watch for more information. Also the Natural High fund raiser is at hand. Fujiko is sending out more information on that. Many of our members contributed last year and all the paintings sold. You, receive 50% of the sale price

    4. Our Black and White show is at hand. Please attend the reception on the 24th and celebrate with our guest artists the winning enteries.

    5. We have been studying how best to increase our membership base and are sending out via snail mail a quick questionnaire that we hope you will complete and return quickly. We want to be responsive to our members and keep La Jolla Art Association a vibrant caring place to serve our members and promote Art to our community.

Thank you,
Melinda Newman
President of La Jolla Art Association
