Please read this guide completely before setting up or updating your online gallery. If the webmaster is very busy, and you have not taken the time to follow the specifications on this page, your update may be delayed significantly! Because we are permitting members to display so many images, you have to take a bit of time yourself to get your information in a form that the webmaster can use.
Also, note that Exhibiting and Life Members only may have up to 100 images in their gallery. Images will be placed in both the Member Gallery and the Media Gallery. However, no more than 10 images for any one artist will be placed in the Media Gallery. You must have a valid email address to update your online gallery.
1. Preparing Your Images: We accept only digital images of your work. Each image should be no more than 640 pixels on a side, and no larger than 150 K. If you do not have digital images of your work, you will have to make them. If you are not sure about how to do this, your local camera store or photo developer should be able to help you.
All images should be named using your last name and starting with the number 001. If you adding images to your existing web gallery, start with the next number in sequence. For example if your last name were Smith: Smith001.jpg, Smith002.jpg, Smith003.jpg etc.
2. Preparing the Image Description File: Along with your images, you need to submit an Image Description File named "comments.txt". This file should have as many lines as the number of images you are submitting, and each line has to contain the following items:
Each line has to be formatted as in the following example:
smith001.jpg=Campfire
©2004 Joe Smith, Photograph, 12"x18", Price Upon Request
smith002.jpg=Forest
©2005 Joe Smith, Oil on canvas, 24"x36", $3,500
3. Preparing Your Artist Information Page: Each artist who has paid for an online gallery may have an individual Artist Information Page. This page may have one or more of the following sections:
Send this information to the webmaster by email along with your images and the "comments.txt" file. Here is a sample page you can modify and include with your package:
4. Assemble Your Update Package: Each Update Package includes the following three items: 1) Initial Artist Information Page or changes to it; 2) images and corresponding Image Description files; and 3) any changes to the images and thumbnails previously placed Web Gallery.
5. Cost of the web update package: The cost of setting up a Web Gallery or adding images to the existing Gallery is $10.00 per 10 images. For example, if you are setting up your gallery for the first time, and you are starting with 35 images, you would have pay $40.00. All of this money goes to LJAA, and helps support the web site.
Send your check to the La Jolla Art Association, 7734 Herschel Avenue, Suite G, La Jolla, CA 92037, noting it is for a Web Gallery. Be sure to make the check out to La Jolla Art Association.
