Village Gold was developed by the La Jolla Art Association Board of Directors to enhance the LJAA’s service program and to make it easier for members to receive recognition for their service to the Association.
For each hour of service donated to the Association, members may earn one ounce of Village Gold. Upon completion of service, the Board Member in charge of the service area authorizes the issuance of the appropriate number of Village Gold Ounces earned and the date they were earned.
Please note that Village Gold is only earned for service that helps the Association as a whole. Work done for a member’s own Group Show, New Member Show or All Members Show does not count for Village Gold.
Village Gold Ounces can be redeemed in a variety of ways including participating in a regular Group Show at the LJAA Gallery (6 oz.), or in special shows sponsored by the LJAA such as the All County Show (2 oz.) or All Member Show (2 oz.). Members may also use one ounce of Village Gold for each Web Upgrade Package they select.
How does a member earn Village Gold? There are ample opportunities including serving on the Board of Directors and on Committees of a member’s choice; by staffing the LJAA Gallery in emergencies, helping maintain the Gallery; and by contributing special skills such computer expertise, web design, or any other skills which may be of service to the association. A member also may earn more Ounces than needed in any one year; unredeemed ounces carry over annually and may be redeemed at any future time.
Full details of the Village Gold Program are given in the LJAA Rules of Order, Section IV, 1. The Village Gold Program at "http://lajollaart.org/about_ljaa/rulesoforder.html .
