LJAA Membership Guide

Any person interested in joining one of California's most historic and prestigious art associations is welcome; there is no residency requirement. All types of membership are contingent on acceptance by the Board of Directors. The following table shows the different types of membership available, and the benefits and responsibilities of each type.

Membership Benefit Codes:

Vote Vote at annual meetings or other special meetings of the membership.
Show Eligible to exhibit art at LJAA's gallery and at other special events upon invitation.
Web Exhibit images on LJAA's web site; Artist information page on web site.
List Appear on web site's Member Listing, with email and link to external web site.
News Receive complimentary newsletter.
Inv Receive invitations to receptions and schedule of gallery exhibits.

Membership Responsibility Codes:

Dues Annual Dues.
Fee Initiation Fee of $35 required - new members only.
Svc Commitment to annual service required.

Exhibiting Member	Any artist whose work has been juried and passed for admission, who has paid the initiation fee established by the Board of Directors, and who has paid the annual dues established by the Board of Directors, and who intends to exhibit their work in an LJAA venue in exchange for service certificates.							$75	$35
Associate Member	Any person significantly contributing to the Association and promoting interest in art, and who pays the required annual dues.							$40
Patron Member	Any person or organization contributing to the LJAA an amount to be determined by the Board of Directors.
Honorary Member	Any person who, in the view of the Board of Directors, has given outstanding service to the LJAA.
Life Member	Any Active Member who has paid an amount specified by the Board of Directors, but in no case less than three times the annual dues of Active Members; and who agrees to annual service to the LJAA. Members who purchased a Life Membership prior to 2005 maintain their status as Exhibiting Members, provided they comply with other requirements of membership, even though this class of membership shall no longer be offered.

Jurying Process for Exhibiting Members: You can print out our Membership Application Form, or for any of the categories, you can request a form by sending mail to the Membership Chairperson at the LJAA Gallery address. Jurying of those applying for Active or Sustaining Membership takes place at each monthly Board meeting. Check this site for applicable dates.

The jury consists of the Board of Directors who review the photos submitted by prospective members. Details are provided with the application. The current initiation fee and annual dues are also provided on the application.
