The Village Gallery Print Mart is now open for
members to sell their unframed originals, prints and giclees.
It is available to any member who has:
A Display Block
permits you to show up to 5 unframed original works on paper, high
quality photographic prints, or giclees for six months. You may purchase up to 2
display blocks for 6 months, for a total of 10 artworks on view at a time.
One Display Block costs
$30 or 3 oz. of Village Gold for a six month period.
The sales commission is 25%. The person
staffing the gallery will handle the sale of your work. The minimum price for an
item in the Print Mart is $50. When
a work is sold, you may bring in another to replace it.
Procedure:
·
Send your request
for 1 or 2 Display Blocks and check (or indication of amount of Village Gold) to
Jan Thompson, LJAA Treasurer,
·
Fill out a
Consignment List with the information about your art (download the Consignment
List from Member Forms on the website, www.lajollaart.org.)
When you arrive at the gallery with your artwork, place it in the
Consigment Binder marked Print Mart. When
you add or remove an item in the Print Mart, change the information on your
Consignment List.
·
Place your artwork
(preferably matted) on a non-bendable surface such as foamcore and enclose in
protective clear packaging. Label
the back with your name, contact information, price, and starting date (Month,
year). Minimum price is $50.
·
Accompany your
prints with a Certificate of Authenticity (which should include information
about you, the ink and paper used to produce the giclee/print, and if it is a
limited edition, information about all the editions).
·
When a work is
sold, the gallery staffer will phone you and you may bring in a replacement
piece.
·
When your
half-year is up, you will be notified. You
may renew at the current prevailing rates for a Display Block (if no other
member is on the waiting list) or remove your work from the Print Mart.
If any work is left more than 30 days beyond your closing date, it
becomes the property of La Jolla Art Association, to dispose of as it sees fit.
