Laurel Hillary Elting was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Three Dimensional Design from the University of Arizona in Tucson. L. Hillary (as she signs her work) is a multi-award winning artist and has studied with nationally and internationally known artists. She is a juried member of the Artists' Guild of the San Diego Museum of Art and the La Jolla Art Association, as well as the distinguished Pastel Society of the West Coast, and the North County Society of Fine Arts where she served as Co-President.
Artist Statement: The goal I have set for myself is: "That my paintings will capture and hold the attention of those who view them." That is how I define the success of my work. It's the "shared moment" when people consider a subject, much as I did when I painted it, that I find most rewarding! It delights me, and drives me to create, yet again.
