Artist Statement

Using the rich, vibrant colors of the highest quality Dupont Dyes and 100% Habotai silk, Julie has found a striking way to capture the shimmering beauty of God’s underwater creation. Her husband, Phil, is an accomplished underwater photographer, and it is through his pictures that God inspires her ideas. Together they have traveled all over the world to scuba dive, from the Caribbean to the Red Sea and from Hawaii to the South Pacific. Julie is grateful to share her deep faith in God through her painting.

An award-winning artist, Julie has been painting since her mother gave her a paint set and art lessons for her ninth birthday. She studied under Fred Gong, a renowned portrait artist from Washington D.C., and later went on to receive her visual arts degree magna cum laude from UCSD.

"May everything I do begin with God’s inspiration, continue with His guidance, and end with His revelation.”
